Northern Africa turned to soybean oil




According to Oil World estimates, in October-December 2019, Northern Africa increased import of soybean oil from 5 main exporting countries due to some reduction of sunflower oil purchases.

Thus, Algeria increased soybean oil import to 85 thsd tonnes, up 2.3 times compared to the same period of 2018 (36 thsd tonnes), Morocco raised purchases by 63% to 67 (41) thsd tonnes, Egypt – to 30 (29) thsd tonnes.

Cumulative import of soybean oil by Northern Africa reached 244 thsd tonnes in October-December 2019, up 70% compared to the same period of 2018.
