Grain Market Weekly Report: Russia & Ukraine (02/10/2006 – 06/10/2006)




Russian domestic market

During last week market of milling and feed wheat was characterized by price stability. Insignificant price decreasing was observed in the southern region

Demand for feed barley slightly activated in the southern region and Volgograd oblast

Feed maize market kept price stability

Ukrainian domestic market

Trading rates remained low on the market of milling wheat. Selling prices were mainly unchanged

Lack of offers against a background of high demand caused selling prices range reduction on feed wheat market

 Trade-purchasing activity was high on the market of feed barley. Less grain forced buyers to increase purchasing prices

Harvesting progress and more real lots of maize on the market caused increase in buyers’ activity

Export market situation (CIS region)

Trade-purchasing activity was at minimal level on he export market of grains in the ports of Russia. There were no significant changes in prices

Russian buyers as well as foreign importers showed much interest in purchases of milling wheat Kazakhstan origin

Purchasing activity was at low level on the export market of milling wheat in the ports of Ukraine due to introduction of licensing for wheat export till the end of 2006

Interest in feed barley from exporters was at high level that caused rise in purchasing prices

In conditions of lack of offers and strict competitiveness on export market of feed peas some exporters increased purchasing prices

Trade-purchasing activity livened up on export market of feed maize but prices were at development stage
