Kazakhstan planted spring grains throughout over 1 mln ha — Ministry of Agriculture




As of May 12, ten oblasts of Kazakhstan planted spring spiked grain crops (without corn and rice) throughout the areas of 1.167 mln ha, or 8.1% of the general planned areas for the reporting regions (14.465 mln ha), reported the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In particular, to date farmers almost doubled the rates of the planting campaign compared with last year, when the country planted the crops throughout 661.7 thsd ha only (4.6%) on the same date.

Also, five oblasts already planted corn for grain throughout 109.3 thsd ha (66.2% of the plan), three oblasts planted rice throughout 26.7 thsd ha (26.2%), and ten oblasts planted oilseed crops throughout 506.5 thsd ha (16.8%).

Generally, as of the reporting date Kazakhstan already planted all spring crops throughout 2.245 mln ha, or 12.1% of the plan (18.626 mln ha).
