As of October 14, Kazakhstan harvested grain crops throughout the areas of 15.1 mln ha, or 99.2% of the forecasted areas. The production reached 19.1 mln tonnes of grains, with the average yield of 1.26 t/ha, reported the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Askar Mamin.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, in the current year the harvest volumes will reduce by 2 mln tonnes in bunker weight compared with last year. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture was authorized to ensure the timely purchase of grains by NC Food Contract Corporation JSC to stabilize the domestic prices of bread, said A.Mamin.
In addition, in the current year the general grain harvest will total 19.1 mln tonnes in bunker weight, including 11.5-12 mln tonnes tonnes of wheat.
Taking into account the last year carry-over stocks, the general distribution of wheat will reach nearly 14 mln tonnes, while the domestic demand — 6 mln tonnes. As of the export potential of grain crops, the figures total nearly 8.5 mln tonnes, including nearly 6 mln tonnes of wheat and nearly 2 mln tonnes of barley.
