Ukraine: in 2019, the general grain harvest to break a new record — NBU




The Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Dmytro Sologub reported that in 2019, the general grain harvest in the country can break a new record and total 80 mln tonnes, which will be possible, due to the favourable weather conditions, and increasing of productivity of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, which significantly invested in updating of agricultural equipment and technologies for several recent years, informed the press-service of the NBU.

The sustainable increase in efficiency in the agricultural sector and the interest of foreign investors in the hryvnia securities of the Ukrainian government (domestic government loan bonds) are two new fundamental trends in the Ukrainian economy, which also kept the favourable situation on the foreign exchange market in the current year, D.Sologub said.

In addition, he noted that opening of the land market can also contribute to significant increasing of grain yield figures in Ukraine in the following years.
